PROLOGUE
by Arch. Carmencita L. Rosales, fuap, fpiep
Chancellor, College of Fellows (FY 2005-2006)
Some forty years ago, I was gifted to be bestowed a United Nations Fellowship to the United Kingdom and was enrolled at the Architectural Association (AA), the only private school of Architecture in England located at Bedford Square, London. Some how as the Chancellor now, of the College of Fellows of the United Architects of the Philippines, I am reminded of the first overwhelmed and awed experience I ever had in being part of an accolade and savor the pride, dignity and the solemnity in the recognition of an architect or professional by his organization. The elegance and grandeur of the occasion, commenced when I received a very personal invitation for the ceremony which I felt as a great esteem accorded to my humble and neophyte person from the President of the Association and the Director or Chairman of the School. The ceremony was beautiful in every sense of the word, noble and majestic. It curved a very dignified and regal memory in my mind and in a soft corner of my heart. Thus I have suggested to introduce the exercise wherein the conferring officer or officers accord high esteem to the newest member of the organization, the delegate and the friend in the occasion of the bestowal of Honor to the Officers and Members of the Board; Officers and Members of the College and the new Honorees of the College of Fellows.
A few years after, when I became a member of the Philippine Institute of Architects, in the Ceremony of the first "Honor Dinner which I had attended for the Investiture for Elevation to Fellow"; once again, I had a most magnificent experience; that somehow became a pedestal of inspiration to my then young and innocent mind. In my heart, at that appointed time, I had sought secretly for the opportunity and occasion that my dream that I will be elevated as a fellow, and be deserving of such honor and tribute in my life; to belong to the College, the epitome of the highest ideals of the profession and humanity .
Today, as I write this Prologue as Chancellor of the College of Fellows, United Architects of the Philippines, the lifetime honor and dignity of my aspiration envelopes my whole self with gratitude and humility, fortitude and aspiration , and with bliss and fulfillment; as I accepted the enormous responsibilities, and the corresponding exertion of efforts to respond to the tribute and esteem from such an honorable group of professionals.
I salute the United Architects of the Philippines, the men and women who labored, sacrificed and rose from its ashes like the phoenix; to make this organization to what it is now. I acknowledge with accolade and great esteem those who contributed their sweat and blood throughout the annals of the growth and maturity of the organization.
The College of Fellows, now, has a permanent Office at the UAP Headquarters and the concomitant administrative functions as defined in the Bylaws. All the amenities, supports and concessions, were tried to be reciprocated with all efforts to fulfill the mandates of the Bylaws.
With the passing of RA 9266 the organization has soared up in its flight of fulfillment.
