International Institutions
National Section of the International Union of Architects (UIA).
The International Union of Architects (Union internationale des Architectes, or UIA) is an international non-governmental organization that represents over a million architects in 124 countries. The UIA was founded in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1948. The General Secretariat is located in Paris. It is recognized by most United Nations agencies as the only association in its field, including UNESCO, UNCHS, ESOSOC, UNIDO, and the World Health Organization, as well as the WTO. Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA)
ARCASIA or ARCHITECTS REGIONAL COUNCIL OF ASIA is an organization of seventeen National Institutes of Architects from the Asian region extending from Pakistan in the West to Philippines in the East, Peoples Republic of China in the North to Indonesia in the South. The objectives of ARCASIA are: (1) To unite National Institutes of Architects on a democratic basis throughout the Asian region, to foster friendly, Intellectual, artistic, educational and scientific ties; (2) To foster and maintain professional contacts, mutual cooperation and assistance among Member Institutes; (3) To represent architects of the Member Institutes at national and international levels; (4) To promote the recognition of the architects role in society; (5) To promote the development and education of architects and architectural professional in their service to society and; (6) To promote research and technical advancement in the field of the built environment. The Council of the ARCASIA consists of all the Presidents of the National Institutes. The organization itself serves as an extension for each Member Institute’s regional program and relations. Annual Meetings are held in different Member Institute countries to deliberate and to give collective directions and representation to matters that affect the architectural profession in the Asian region. Eastern Regional Organization of Planning and Housing (EAROPH)
The Eastern Regional Organisation for Planning and Housing (EAROPH) is a non-governmental multi-sectorial organisation encompassing the private, public and academic sectors. The organization was established to foster the exchange of insights and experiences among countries in the EAROPH region, which has been acknowledged as the most dynamic in the world in terms of economic growth, magnitude of urbanization, population size and ethnic diversity. The EAROPH region covers all countries in Asia, Australasia and the Pacific region. EAROPH promotes a better understanding of Human Settlements and encourages excellence in planning, development and management to improve the quality of life and sustainability of human settlements. APEC Architect Central Council
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an international forum composed of twenty-one member economies within the Asia-Pacific region. Its purpose is “to sustain the growth and development of the region for the common good of its peoples” by encouraging trade. APEC builds on WTO General Agreement on Trade and Services (GATS) principles for the progressive liberalisation of trade in services through the reduction of regulatory restrictions, leading to reciprocal agreements between member economies where appropriate. At its inception, the APEC Architect Project was an initiative of the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG), one of a number of sectoral groups established to implement APEC programs. The project was endorsed by the HRDWG at its year 2000 meeting in Brunei as a contribution to the Group’s strategic priority of facilitating mobility of qualified persons by the mutual recognition of skills and qualifications.

Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
The Professional Regulation Commission (Filipino: Komisyon sa Pamamalakad ng mga Propesyonal), otherwise known as the PRC, is a three-man commission attached to the office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. Its mandate is to regulate and supervise the practice of the professionals who constitute the highly skilled manpower of the country. As the agency-in-charge of the professional sector, the PRC plays a strategic role in developing the corps of professionals for industry, commerce, governance, and the economy.
Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture (PRBoA)
The PRBoA as an entity is under the administrative control and supervision of the PRC, a quasi-judicial and quasi-legislative entity that forms part of the executive branch of the Philippine Government. As such, it does not act independently on matters involving the regulation of the practice of the profession of architecture in the Philippines. The reconstituted PRBoA is a collegial body and is active in the areas of executive action relating to the implementation and enforcement of Republic Act No. 9266 (otherwise known as the Philippine "Architecture Act of 2004"), its implementing rules and regulations (IRR) and derivative regulations e.g. other executive issuances of the PRBoA through the PRC.
Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA)
The Philippine Federation of Professional Associations is the umbrella organization of all accredited professional organizations directly supervised by the Professional Regulation Commission. The objectives are: (1) To promote professional interdisciplinary collaboration and interaction to keep abreast with the developments in the rapid changing world; (2) To galvanize a multi-professional approach to the economic, social, educational and techno-scientific problems of the nation; (3) To establish a united rapport among the different professions, the Professional Regulation Commission, the Philippine Association of Board Examiners, the Government, and the people in general; (4) To establish a single clearing house for the problems of the member-associations; (5) To provide a forum among the member-associations for the settlement of interdisciplinary differences and disputes. (6)To aid, assist and advise each member-organization towards healthier and stable existence.
Council for the Built and Natural Environments (CBNE)
The CBNE is composed of nine (9) Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Accredited Professional Organizations that deal with the built and natural environments. These are the Geological Society of the Philippines (GSP), the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP), the National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines (NAMPAP), the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA), the Philippine Association of Landscape Architects (PALA), the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP), the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID), the Society of Filipino Foresters (SFF) and the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP). The objectives of the CBNE include empowerment of its member-professional associations toward the advancement of their respective professions and the promotion of their common interests on environmental issues and concerns.
Department of Health (DOH)
The Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Kalusugan) is the principal health agency in the Philippines. It is the executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for ensuring access to basic public health services to all Filipinos through the provision of qualityhealth care and the regulation of providers of health goods and services.
Department of Education (DepEd)
The Department of Education (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Edukasyon), is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for the management and governing of the Philippine system of basic education. It is the chief formulator of Philippine educational policy and is responsible for the Philippine primary and secondary school system. The Department of Education is also known by its old name, the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, Kultura at Palakasan).
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)
The DPWH, is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for all safety of projects in the field of public works. It is also responsible for the maintenance of the Philippine road network and irrigation system.
National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)
The NCCA is s the official arts council for the Philippines. The NCCA mandates are to: (1) Formulate policies for the development of culture and the art; (2) To coordinate & implement the overall policies and program of attached agencies on the development of culture and arts as stated under Executive Order No. 80 (3) Administer the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts (4) Encourage artistic creation within a climate of artistic freedom (5) Develop and promote the Filipino national culture and arts; and (6) Preserve Filipino cultural heritage
Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
The Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines, (Filipino: Komisyon sa Mas Mataas na Edukasyon), abbreviated as CHED. The CHED is attached to the Office of the President for administrative purposes. It covers both public and private higher education institutions as well as degree-granting programs in all post-secondary educational institutions in the country.
Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC)
The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) was created on January 1999 through Executive Order 54 to ensure that the Pasig River is rehabilitated to its historically pristine condition conducive to transport, recreation and tourism. It was amended by Executive Order 65 to involve the private sector in the rehabilitation of Pasig River. Consolidating the various government offices in charge of aspects of Pasig River rehabilitation into a single body, the Commission has the mandate to plan, coordinate, evaluate, approve, implement, supervise, and monitor plans, programs, projects and activities; and enforce rules and regulations towards the rehabilitation of the river.
