ARCASIA supports UAP on RA 9266
The Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA), the umbrella organization of seventeen (17) Asian Nations' architects organizations recently issued Resolution of Support No. 001, series of 2011 to the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) in relation to Republic Act No. 9266, otherwise known as "The Architecture Act of 2004", especially to the scope of practice of architecture.
The Resolution clearly resolves that "ARCASIA issue an official statement defining the scope of practice of ARCHITECTURE to all government agencies, departments, bureaus, in charge of regulating the practice of the architectural profession including those agencies, departments, bureaus, that regulates the building and construction industries, to clearly delineate the specific scopes of practices in architecture and engineering to prevent future confusions with other scope of services and functions in order to pave the way to a more complimentary and harmonious relationship between architecture and engineering professions".
Signed by the Office Bearers of the ARCASIA Council and Presidents of seventeen architectural organization, the Resolution was issued during the 32nd ARCASIA Council Meeting on August 18, 2011 at Furama Resort Hotel, Da Nang, Viet Nam. The said council meeting was held in conjunction with the ARCASIA Forum 16. The Philippine Delegation was headed by UAP National President, Arch. Ramon S. Mendoza, fuap, who represented the UAP in the 32nd ARCASIA Council Meeting. Other members of the delegations were: Architects John Joseph T. Fernandez, Executive Director of the Commission on Education (official delegate to the ACAE Meeting); Michael T. Ang, Immediate Past National Executive Vice President (official delegate to the ACGSA Meeting); Edric Marco C. Florentino, Past UAP National President (official delegate to the ACPP Meeting); Yolanda David-Reyes, Past UAP National President (incumbent Council Advisor of the ARCASIA); Ana S. Mangalino-Ling, Immediate Past National President; Domingo Ll. Tablizo, Jr., Bursar of the UAP College of Fellows; Corazon F. Tandoc, Past Chancellor of the UAP College of Fellows; Melencio D. Manalo, Area A Vice President; Marlo J. Basco, Area D Vice Presidents; and Romulo L. Reyes, Member of the UAP College of Fellows
