(Article VI, Section 2 of the 2009 UAP By-laws) Current President
Architect Ramon S. Mendoza has had a career punctuated by a series of impressive successes as architect, as well as proven track record as dedicated UAP volunteer. His dedication to the United Architects of the Philippines is proven by years of active service to the organization since its creation, as charter member of the organization, chapter officer, and has served the organization in various capacities both in the local and national levels, including as the recent one, Area A Vice President in Fiscal Year 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and National Executive Vice President in Fiscal Year 2008-2009. He received his degree of Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas in 1973 as UST Cultural Scholar and passed the Architecture Board Exam in 1974. Loyal to his Alma Mater, he has taken a leadership role in the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture Alumni Association (USTCAAA) in various capacities and currently serving as Vice President for Administration. Through the creativity of his idea, the simplicity of his plan, and the depth of his commitment, he has connected all stakeholders in the process of building the architecture profession. These efforts resulted to his holding of several key positions such as: President of Architects Bowling Club (1984, 1991 and 1992); President, Architects Golf Club (2001 and 2002); Board Chairman and President, Architects Golf Classic (1999-2007). In every arena, our Architect Mendoza’s enthusiasm and natural ability to lead, inspire and bring various groups together has gained respect for architects from beyond the profession. As a leader that understands the gentle art of persuasion through respect, he was tapped to serve as Tournament Chairman of the UAP Annual Golf Tournament in Year 2002, and has served the UAP Golf Cup for eight consecutive years that generated more than P17 million in net revenue. Architect Mendoza is a recognized advocate for instituting parliamentary practices in all UAP national and local meetings and assemblies which leads to the publication of the first UAP Parliamentary Rules of Procedures in 2006 (Fiscal Year 2006-2007). He was invited in several forums to talk on parliamentary procedure and a systematic way of organizing meetings. His leadership has been most notable for his successes in leading Area A in two consecutive successful Area assemblies which led to the institutionalization of AREA Assemblies. In addition, he promoted an awareness of the collaborative discussion on issues and concerns within the Area. His comprehensive and diverse background in the practice of architecture served as a foundation for his distinguished career as Architect and a raison d'être for his elevation to the College of Fellows in Year 2001 in the field of Allied Profession, the same year when the three future UAP Presidents (Robert Sac, Henry Olonan and Boy Roldan) were also conferred. Among his many civic commitments, he served the Philippine Jaycees in several capacities including as National Vice President in 1987 and was awarded the Lifetime Membership Award by the International Jaycee Senate in 1986.
