2018 BSP Stakeholders Awards
March 9, 2018
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in cooperation with the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) has kicked off 2018 BSP Stakeholders Awards particularly for the Accessibility Award: Isang pagkilala sa mga bangko na may mga pasilidad at istraktura na tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng mga konsyumer na may kapansanan.
The BSP has long supported the objective of Batas Pambansa (BP) 344, An Act to Enhance the Mobility of Persons with Disability by Requiring Certain Buildings, Institutions, Establishments and Public Utilities to install Facilities and Other Devices to ensure equal and non-discriminatory access to banking offices particularly by persons with disability.
The Accessibility Award shall recognize banks that fully adhere to the required details and specifications of the accessibility features that should be provided for persons with disabilities. The BSP believes that this will promote a greater sense of awareness and responsibility in creating a banking system that is more inclusive, non-discriminating, and protective of financial consumers. The BSP will work with the UAP Committee on Accessibility Audits for Private Buildings (CAAPB) in the assessment of nominees.
If participating banks in the National Capital Region have bank branches with:
- BP344 Compliant accessible parking slots;
- BP344 Compliant accessible ramps or accessible lift;
- at least one accessible teller’s counter; and
- BP344 Compliant accessible signage that identify these accessibility features,
They are requested to electronically submit on or before 16 March 2018 your self-certification of compliance to the UAP through email@example.com copy furnished the BSP Financial Consumer Protection Department through firstname.lastname@example.org.
The UAP-CAAPB will inform qualified participants of the schedule of accessibility audit on 19 March to 06 April 2018, including Saturdays and Sundays. Participating banks are requested to provide transportation and needed logistics to the UAP Accessibility Audit Team.
The UAP-CAAPB will evaluate the following BP344 Requirements, namely: Accessible parking, Accessible ramp, Accessible lift, Accessible Teller’s Counter, Accessible Signage and Way-Finding, Accessible Toilet for Staff with disability, Accessible Talking ATMs, Warning Tactile Blocks, Guiding Tactile Blocks, Braille Signage, and Lever Type Locksets.
