Three distinguished architects honored at PRC Awards Night

Three distinguished members of the United Architects of the Philippines were honored during the PRC Awards Night held last June 20, 2019 at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel.
Arch. Arnulfo P. De Asis was recognized as the 2019 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Architecture; Arch. Felino A. Palafox, Jr. was honored as the 2019 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Environmental Planning, while Arch. Conrad T. Onglao received the 2019 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Interior Design.
The Outstanding Professional of the Year award is the highest award bestowed by the Commission upon a professional for having sufficiently demonstrated professional competence of the highest degree, conducted herself with integrity in the exercise of her profession, and significantly contributed to the advancement of the profession and to the effective discharge of the profession’s social responsibility through meaningful participation in socio-related activities.
Arch. Arnulfo P. De Asis
Arch. De Asis was recognized for his distinguished contribution in the field of architecture and construction, his exemplary service in his profession being one of the founders and Chief Operating Officer of construction giant, DATEM Inc., involved in the construction of the country’s most prestigious high rise projects. Also, has designed and constructed several residential condominium projects and economic housing projects being the President of Datem Homes, Inc., shows his commitment and professionalism in his field. His competence, excellence, and commendable track record have earned various awards and recognition such as the President’s Merit of Recognition as Outstanding Member of UAP QC Capitol Chapter and a Special Recognition as Guest of Honor of the UAP 2017 National Convention. He is also instrumental in the development in construction technologies in Formworks, Precast and Low Cost Housing Shoebox System. He also attended numerous international forum in Modular Construction for Housing, Green Building Conferences, Affordable Housing Summit and the World of Architecture Festival. Arch. De Asis also conducted lectures on Pre-Construction Planning, Precast System and Technologies, Project Cost Control and Monitoring, and other industry related topics. As a member of several organizations namely, the United Architects of the Philippines QC Capitol Chapter, Precast Concrete Institute, American Concrete Institute and currently the President of Architectural Center Club, Inc., his relentless dedication to these organizations is a testament of his outstanding career in Architecture.
Arch. Felino A. Palafox, Jr.
Meanwhile, Arch. Palafox was honored for his distinguished contribution in the field of Environmental Planning, his exemplar service in his profession in Architecture and environmental Planning for 47 years of experience; founded, led and manages, Palafox Associates and Palafox Architecture in planning. He completed more than 1,600 projects, and developed 28 billion square meters of land in 40 countries. Lectured in 20 countries and travelled and observed 1,000 cities in 75 countries, and an Architect and Senior Planner in Dubai UAE, 1977- 198. Has an Urban / Environmental planning notable projects include Rockwell Center, Ayala Heights, Ayala Alabang and many others. His excellence and commendable track record have earned his firm in 2006 ranked 94th – holding the distinction of being the only Southeast Asian firm in the list. In 2012, Palafox Associates placed 89th in the worldranking and Top 8 in the Leisure Market sector. In November 2018 was awarded - Best Book on Professions for The Philippines towards Resilient Cities and Communities in the 37th National Book Awards. He was conferred with the title of Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Town and Regional Planners of Singapore, April 2018. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Citizen for Community Development City of Makati. He is a fellow Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Past President of Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners, fellow of United Architects of the Philippines, member of the American Institute of Architects, American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute, US Green Building Council; and has served as Past President of Management Association of the Philippines, and National Real Estate Association.
Arch. Conrad T. Onglao
Arch. Onglao received the awards for his distinguished contribution in the field of Interior Design his exemplar services in his profession such as the Interior Designer of the various projects to name a few. Chanel Boutique in Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills as first stand-alone store of Chanel in the U.S; Sheraton Hotel Chain, Radisson Hotel Chain, Hilton Hotel Chain; The Doris Magsaysay Ho residence featured in Architectural Digest year 2000, as first Filipino designer &house featured in this International Magazine. d.) Re-design of Bahay Pangarap, the president residence since Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, up to the present president, Rodrigo Duterte. Shows his commitment and professionalism in his field. His competence, excellence, and commendable track records have earned him various awards and recognition featured in different magazines such as Bluprint, Cocoon, Malaysia Tatler, Metro Magazine, Metro Society, My Home, Town and Country, Tropical Living, Archikonst Magazine and daily newspaper with Ayala Land as a major clients. IDr. Conrad Onglao has attended numerous seminars and had been invited as a guest speaker in many occasion. As a member of Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, PIID and United Architects of the Philippines, UAP of Makati CBD Chapter. His relentless dedication to the organization/s is a testament of his outstanding career.
