UAP Legazpi Chapter prexy appointed chair of the reconstituted Local Zoning Review Committee

UAP Legazpi Chapter President Arch. Arr-Jay Joquico was named chairman of the reconstituted Local Zoning Review Committee (LZRC) of the City Government of Legazpi.

Executive Order No. 38, series 2018 issued by Hon. Mayor Noel E. Rosal last August 20, 2018 reconstituted the LZRC pursuant to City Council Resolution No. 03-2018 as a functional committee of the Legazpi City Planning and Development Council.

According to the order, the LZRC is tasked to review the Zoning Ordinance, considering the following: determine amendments or revisions necessary in the Zoning Ordinance because of changes that have been introduced in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP); determine changes introduced in the CLUP, in the light of permits given, and exceptions and variances granted; identify provisions of the Ordinance difficult to enforce or are unworkable; recommend to the Sanggunian Panlungsod through the LCPDC (c/o its Secretariat, the City Planning & Development Office), necessary legislative amendments that need changes/revisions, as a result of the review, and; provide information to the City-SP and LCPDC that would be useful in the exercise of its functions.

The Local Government Code of 1991 mandates Local Government Units to continue to prepare their respective comprehensive land use plans implemented through Zoning Ordinances which shall be the primary and dominant bases for the future use of land resources.

The LZRC is composed of the following: SP Chairman on Housing and Land Use, City Planning and Development Coordinator, City Legal Officer, City Assessor, City Agriculturist, President Liga ng mga Barangay, City Engineering Office, City Environment and Natural Office, City DRRM Officer, Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer, President of Legazpi City Slumdwellers Foundation, Inc. President of Albay Chamber of COmmerce and Industry, Representative from Communities Naga Inc., President of UAP Legazpi Chapter and President of PICE-Albay Legazpi Chapter.

It may be recalled that Architect Joquico was also appointed Chair of Legazpi City Land Use Committee.
