The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with MICROCADD Institute Incorporated to strengthen their partnership in running after illegal practitioners pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 9266, otherwise known as "The Architecture Act of 2002". The historic signing was held last October 1, 2018 at the National Museum of Fine Arts in line with the celebration of the World Architecture Day 2018.

Under the initiative of UAP Balangkasan National Committee, in collaboration with the UAP Special Committee for Illegal Practices, the MOA also leads the way to the promotion of UAP advocacy campaign #GetAnArchitect.

MICROCADD Institute Inc. commits to support the campaign of the organization against the illegal practice of architecture.

In an interview with UAP Balangkasan Chairman, Arch. Sylvester Shaun D. Seno, the proposed institutional support for R.A. 9266 enforcement ad campaign aims to advance the cause of the Filipino architectural profession against any form of unethical and illegal practices related. According to him, this will be achieved through an aggressive institutional advertising campaign in support of the Architecture Law and #GetAnArchitect hashtag which will be integrated in all marketing paraphernalia and other medium collateral of educational service provider MICROCADD INSTITUTE INC.  He stressed that though the said institute, considered the largest AUTODESK Training Center in Asia, which is patronized by those who are inclined with design and drafting and by both architecture and engineering-oriented course aspirants and professionals, the said intensified advertising campaign will continually remind its client-students the importance of fostering respect among all built environment professionals and to avoid performing services which are solely reserved for licensed professionals.

"Thus, the  MOU signing was chosen to be held during the celebration of WAD celebration with the theme Architecture for a better world, to give special significance to the positive and huge contribution of this maiden undertaking in uplifting the value of a Filipino Architect as the prime professional", Arch. Sylvester Shaun D. Seno underscored.

The partnership aims to safeguard the architectural profession in its R.A. 9266 by fostering mutual respect among all built environment professionals on their respective scope of practices; educate all prospective students, including aspirants from the built environment- oriented courses (both students and graduates), on the importance of avoiding performing nor soliciting services solely reserved for the licensed built environment professionals; and  ensure sustainability of this noble endeavor through short reminders integrated in all printed/internet-based marketing paraphernalia and training venues of educational service providers oriented to the design of the built environment

Signatories during the signing were: Arch. Benjamin Panganiban, National President; Arch. Ronnie R. Yumang, Secretary General; Arch. Gil V. Japitana, Executive Director of the Commission on Governmental and External Affairs; Arch. Jonathan V. Manalad, Executive of the Commission on Education; Arch. Ray C.
